Coolerworx Short Shifter for Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII VIII IX NSB Black Anodized Look Standard Orange
The Coolerworx NSB Short Shifter for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII, VIII and IX with 5-speed gearbox is a completely new design developed specifically for these models. Finished in a black anodized look, it combines a clean OEM-style installation with a precise, mechanical shifting feel.
This is not an updated version of an older shifter. The mechanism was redesigned from the ground up after detailed analysis of the Evo 7/8/9 interior and factory console layout. Coolerworx used 3D scanning of the interior and surrounding trim to define the available space and create a system that fits beneath the original plastics without cutting.
The project was developed with input from WMD-Evo in the UK, a specialist workshop focused on Mitsubishi Evolution models. Their practical experience and feedback helped refine the final geometry and shifting characteristics.
To achieve proper fitment through the small factory opening used with the 5-speed console, Coolerworx created an entirely new handle, rocker arm, internal mechanism, pivot points, ratios, geometry and mounting system. None of the main functional geometry was carried over from the previous design.
As part of the NSB – Never Seen Before – series, the shifter follows three key principles: no cutting of interior components, direct installation beneath the original trim and shifting characteristics tuned specifically for the intended gearbox.
The mechanism was developed specifically for the 5-speed Evo gearbox. Multiple ratio configurations were tested to find the right balance between reduced movement, leverage and mechanical feedback rather than simply aiming for the shortest possible throw. The result is a solid, precise shift with a clearly defined mechanical click when each gear engages.
Installation is carried out entirely from inside the vehicle. No cutting of the center console and no modification of the factory interior plastics are required. This makes the upgrade suitable for owners who want a more performance-oriented shifting system without permanently altering the cabin.
